Nature of Oaks Book Discussion Group
Brookside Farm Museum Book Discussion: The Nature of Oaks
Join the Brookside Farm Museum community as we explore The Nature of Oaks: The Rich Ecology of Our Most Essential Native Trees by Douglas Tallamy. Oaks are vital to our ecosystems, supporting biodiversity and enriching our environment in countless ways. Meeting at the museum—designated a Homegrown National Park—we’ll witness the trees in their full springtime splendor as we discuss how to foster ecological health in our own backyards.
Tallamy, an entomologist and professor, offers fascinating insights into the critical role oaks play in sustaining wildlife. His book provides a compelling call to action, making it a must-read for nature lovers and conservationists alike.
Each session begins with a presentation by a local expert on nurturing biodiversity in our region. To kick off the series, we’re thrilled to host a virtual presentation by the author himself!
First Discussion: Wednesday, May 14, 5:30–7:00 PM
Additional Meetings: June 11, July 9, August 13
Books are available for checkout at the library or for purchase at the event. Don’t miss this opportunity to engage with nature and fellow book lovers—register today by emailing brooksidefarmmuseum@gmail.com!
